A lot of people ask me, ‘How did you have the courage to walk up to record labels when you were 12 or 13 and jump right into the music industry?' It's because I knew I could never feel the kind of rejection that I felt in middle school. Because in the music industry, if they're gonna say no to you, at least they're gonna be polite about it.

it honestly makes me so mad people are so desperate to find a reason to hate taylor swift starting with slut shaming her and now calling her racist i mean taylor’s music has a good message and she’s one of the best people out there as a person she hasn’t been caught with drinking, smoking, drunk, partying, arrested and yet people still continue to hate her it makes me so sad she doesnt deserve that i hope that one day people will realize there’s actually nothing wrong with her

Taylor Swift may not be a pop artist forever, or even for very long; perhaps later in her career, she’ll return to country music with open arms. I wouldn’t be shocked if she made an acoustic album someday. However, this is where she is right now — holding oversized boom boxes in gaudy music videos, jiving with Max Martin in the studio, flipping off the naysayers who don’t think she can make spectacular pop music. She can, and she will. The rest of us will just have to get used to it. By Billboard (x)

❝Two years gives you enough time to grow, and to change, and to change your priorities, change where you live, change your hair, change what you believe in, change who you hang out with, what’s influencing you, what’s inspiring you. And in the process of all of those changes that happened in the last two years, my music changed.❞

It wasn’t a conscious decision for me to make a ‘pop’ record at first, but as I started writing more and experiencing all these different things, I realized that the songs I’d written in the first sort of year or so after Red was released, I’d outgrown. For me, I feel like there’s a period in-between albums where I start to become aware that the sound is changing and it stops becoming a continuation of the old record and evolves into a completely new project. With 1989, it was around this point that I sort of addressed the fact that the material I was just obsessed with, the songs I couldn’t not have on the record, well they had this really signature sound.. and so we just decided that 1989 would be my first official genre-stamped ‘pop’ album.
